About us

Səlam! I'm Aygul, and I'm from Kazan, Tatarstan. Professionally, I am an architect, but my passion for my Tatar heritage has led me to a new journey: teaching Tatar grammar, vocabulary, and culture.

A few years ago, I realized I wanted to learn Tatar to connect more deeply with my roots and communicate in our beautiful language. I also wanted to ensure that my family history and cultural heritage are preserved for future generations. However, I quickly discovered that most resources for learning Tatar were either in Russian or were too formal, outdated, and did not fully capture the richness of our culture.

This realization inspired me to create a Telegram channel where I could share more accessible and engaging lessons on the Tatar language and culture. Learning together and explaining concepts to others helps solidify our own understanding of the topic, which is why I believe in the power of community learning.

💡 Here's how I approach creating the lessons:

Planning and Research: I select a topic and break it down into manageable lessons, covering the necessary grammar and vocabulary for four different levels, and research the cultural significance of this topic in the Tatar context.

Content Creation: Using various sources, including grammar books (mostly "Tatar Grammar" by G. Burbiel) and websites, I try to create comprehensive lessons, avoiding any mistakes I find in those sources. My aim is to present the information in a way that is easy to understand for everyone, including absolute beginners. For my cultural research, I use ethnographical works. Additionally, I record the cultural topics for my Patreon page. This allows people who want to support the channel to listen to an audio version of the content. I also share cultural content on Instagram, making it accessible to a broader audience. This website is my latest idea to compile all of this information into one cohesive platform.

Review and Feedback: Bulat Shaymi, who is fluent in Tatar and a linguist, and whom you may know from YouTube or Tiktok, reviews everything to ensure accuracy. We then share the content with our community on Telegram, where members can suggest corrections or additional information.

Website Development: I compile all the refined content and publish it on the website, which is a work in progress. I continuously add new material and plan to include tests and other interactive elements to enhance learning. Your donations help me keep the website up and running.

The website is a growing resource, and I am always expanding it with new lessons on grammar and culture. I want it to be a place where people can come to learn, enjoy, and share the beauty of the Tatar language and heritage.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope you find this website valuable. As you can see, that's a lot of hard work! If you want to support my project, you can find links at the bottom of the page or on the Donate page. Other than that, please share the website or the Telegram channel with your friends and family, and together, let's keep the Tatar culture alive and thriving.

Rəxmət!
